Professional Driver Development

Fuel Savings

Reduce fuel costs up to 7%

Of course every carrier wants to reduce fuel costs, but how do you teach drivers to save fuel? There is no substitute for repetitive demonstration and practice in a sophisticated driving simulator. Training in the simulator provides the driver with instant feedback. The ability to run the same 'route' over and over and compare the fuel used in each run is highly effective at proving to the driver that fuel saving strategies like progressive shifting really work. Plus the driver can concentrate on developing his fuel management skills in a safe environment, free from worry about traffic. Training drivers to shift properly and drive with “fuel sense” has been proven to reduce fuel costs.

Results that add up to big savings

The level of improvement in fuel costs depends on the design of your fuel savings program.

A single 4 hour Professional Driver Development Fuel Management program delivers an average fuel economy improvement of 2.8%. For a truck running 125,000 miles a year that is a savings of $2,800 or more depending on fuel prices. Some drivers will show much higher improvements as the training resolves poor fuel management habits. Improvements as high as 7.5% or $7,500 in annual fuel savings are achieved by these drivers.

Alternatively, creating a comprehensive program with MTI that incorporates Driver Development, Gain Sharing and follow-up sessions can deliver results as high as 7% overall improvement in fuel costs.

What could you do with 7% of your fuel bill to spend?

With savings of thousands of dollars per truck what is the total benefit awaiting your company?

MTI offers a 4 hour course on Fuel Management. Up to 4 drivers can be trained in each class.

Training your drivers to save fuel pays off every mile, every day. There is no better training investment for your fleet.
